A TOWERING work of art celebrating the humble garden shed has now been completed and is currently making its presence felt at Tatton Park.

The work by artist Nicky Coutts entitled A Tower in the Minds is a series of stacked English garden sheds, which collectively resemble a six metre tall Japanese pagoda.

It has been sited next to the mansion’s world famous Japanese Garden and looks directly across to the Shinto Shrine.

Nicky, whose work has been featured at The Lowry, said: “Now the pagoda tower is up it looks strangely in keeping with its surroundings, as though it has always been there.”

The tower is one of six semi-permanent commissions created for the Tatton Park Biennial during Cheshire’s Year of Gardens ’08.
