PARKING problems on a Hooton road have been growing worse it was claimed.
The issue is said to have been affecting Waterworks Lane where a 12 hours a day waiting restriction has been agreed and from the access to the Hooton Hotel pub towards the Hooton station car park.
‘A number of complaints’ had been lodged by residents in the village and by Hooton Village Hall about parking on the road, councillors heard.
It was claimed a ‘large number’ of vehicles were parking on the road, reducing Waterworks Lane to a single lane and causing ‘dangerous driving conditions’ particularly at the junction with the access road to the railway station and car park.
Drivers and pedestrians were also said to have difficulty reaching the village hall as access was obstructed.
The cars have been parking on a narrower section of the road where the width is already greatly reduced, according to traffic engineers who describe the situation as ‘highly dangerous’ to other road users.
That length of Waterworks Lane is also part of a bus route serving the station, they point out.
A no waiting restriction was recommended between 7am and 7pm seven days a week.
