THE owner of a Northwich bar outside which a 55-year-old man was assaulted with a spade has received an official police caution for affray.
John Bates, 41, of Priory Avenue in Northwich, the proprietor of Madisons on High Street, was arrested after RAOB (Buffs) Club steward Frank Pemberton was attacked in the early hours of Saturday, April 25.
He answered his bail on Saturday and received the caution.
Madisons doorman Mark Igoe, 33, of Milton Grove, Warrington is charged with two counts of wounding with intent to commit GBH. He is currently in custody and will enter pleas at Chester Crown Court on July 24.
Madisons has been shut since the incident, and police are expected to ask for its licence revoked when a review is held with Cheshire West and Chester Council chiefs at the end of the month - meaning the venue could be shut down for good.
