WEST Cheshire College students were treated to a visit by an Olympic athlete.
Ben Challenger wowed students at the Ellesmere Port campus as part of the college’s year-long Olympic celebrations by leading an action-packed day which included a high-jumping masterclass, motivational speech and an exercise session.
The opportunity, sponsored by the University of Chester, is part of a series of events that the college is hosting to encourage more students to get active and enjoy sports.
These include taster sessions in sports such as handball, table tennis, fencing and volleyball.
Ben, who is competing for gold as a high-jumper in this year’s Olympics, said: “I really enjoyed my visit to West Cheshire College, I was very impressed with everybody’s enthusiasm and participation throughout the day.
“I was overwhelmed with the talent on show when I led the masterclass in high-jumping as many students have great potential.”
Sam Stevens, hospitality manager at the college, said: “The college was honoured to have an Olympian of Ben’s calibre to spend the day with us.
“He delivered an excellent motivational speech, which really inspired our students.”
