MORE than 1,000 people from Ellesmere Port & Neston and across Cheshire have signed-up to the Older People’s Network which influences county council policy.
Membership soared when Network staff took to the streets around Cheshire aboard the One Stop Community Access Roadshow (OSCAR) bus to tell older people more about their work.
This success was down to the ‘sterling work’ of staff, said Executive Member for Adult Social Services, county Cllr Lynn Hardwick.
She explained: “We support the Network and listen to what they say on topics including the cost of social care, travel issues like campaigning to improve public and community transport, and wanting information and advice on doorstep crime.”
A prize draw was held throughout the OSCAR visits across Cheshire. The winner of a £50 shopping voucher was Jean Drinkwater from Northwich.
