CHESHIRE Oaks has been accused of snubbing Ellesmere Port.
A “disgruntled” Pioneer website user posted a message on our forum criticising the shopping outlet for failing to mention the town during a national radio news bulletin last month.
The poster, called reportable, claims the person who was interviewed by the station described the outlet as being “near Chester” and reckons he should be sacked.
The message said: “I see the bosses at Cheshire Oaks have been at it again. Once again, the Port has been snubbed!
“On listening to a Radio One Newsbeat report about the failing economy, they were saying that some shopping centres like Cheshire Oaks were actually performing better.
“The downside to this report was that the Radio One reporter referred to the Oaks as being in Chester.
“Even worse, when interviewing the Oaks manager, or whoever he was, he stated that the Oaks was ‘near Chester’. Not one mention of the Port.
“That guy should be made to apologise. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done. He should be sacked.”
Colin Wilding, general manager of Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, said: “Although we are very proud to be based in Ellesmere Port, we referred to the outlet being near Chester because it is a well known city that gives listeners a clear geographical reference of where the outlet is located.”
