A NEWLY opened supermarket celebrated its launch by presenting a generous cheque to an Ellesmere Port primary school.

Michael Rodgers, headteacher of Brookside Primary School, was the guest of honour at the opening of the new Tesco Express store on Sutton Way, Great Sutton, last week and he officially cut the ribbon to declare the store open.

As part of the opening celebrations, store manager Richie Hatton and his team presented Mr Rodgers with a cheque for £500, which they had chosen to donate as part of their commitment to supporting the local community.

Mr Hatton said: “We were delighted to be able to support the local school. We’re so pleased that Mr Rodgers came to open the new store and join in the celebrations with us.”

“We are really enjoying meeting our new customers and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”

Mr Rodgers said: “I would like to thank Tesco for this generous donation. “We are grateful that Tesco recognise Brookside Primary School as a worthy cause to receive the donation, which will go toward new learning and play equipment for the school.”

The store is now open seven days a week from 6am-11pm.
