A DAYCARE centre for dementia patients is to open in Ellesmere Port next month.
On May 13 Stella Maris Social Enterprise will launch Deja Vu Dementia Centre of Excellence in Little Sutton.
It will be an innovative community dementia day care facility for the people of Ellesmere Port and the Cheshire West region.
Director Paul Growney says the aim is to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and their carers, with a programme devised around each individual’s care needs.
He said: “Our service has been championed for the fact that we offer a 24- hour, 365-day-per-year service aiming to provide the highest quality of respite care with no other service in the region providing the night service.”
The centre also provides carers the opportunity to have periods of respite whenever they choose.
It is non-residential but holds sessions every day from 10am-4pm, 6.30-10.30pm and 11pm-7am.
The centre caters for up to 16 people at any one period and is in safe surroundings adjacent to the Health and Social Care Academy of Stella Maris Social Enterprise in Little Sutton.
It comprises a lounge room with TV and music facilities, a multi-purpose room and a room for computer/ IT therapy. There are toilet facilities for disabled and able-bodied people and a kitchen. Patio doors lead into an enclosed garden, where there is seating and facilities for gardening activities.
