CHRISTMAS came early for a hospice when they received a cash boost from a Neston supermarket.
Hayley Dykes, from St John’s Hospice on the Wirral, was given a £500 donation by Steve Plowright, the Neston Tesco Metro store manager to help them with the extra costs that Christmas brings.
St John’s Hospice offers care free of charge to people on the Wirral suffering from terminal illness who cannot be cured.
They try to improve the last days of a patient’s life while extending care and support to their loved ones.
Steve said: “St John’s Hospice on the Wirral is such fantastic local organisation with a great community spirit, I am thrilled we can contribute to them.
“My team and I really hope the money will have an impact on the lives of the people who benefit from their work, and would like to wish everyone at the hospice a Merry Christmas.”
Hayley added: “We really appreciate the donation from the store, the money will go towards our running costs.
“St Johns Hospice cares for over 150 patients from Wirral each week at a cost of over £3million per year, this money is raised with the ongoing support and commitment from our local community.”
The Neston Metro store is open from 7am-11pm, Monday to Friday, 7am-8pm on Saturdays and 9am – 6pm on Sundays.
