LUXURIOUS Inglewood Manor Hotel will host a fundraising afternoon tea by the borough’s mayor and mayoress on Saturday, August 9.

First citizen Cllr Keith Butcher spotted a story in last week’s Pioneer in which bosses offered use of the Ledsham hotel free to good causes following the last-minute cancellation of a wedding.

And he immediately rang to see if he and his wife Joan could host a £6-a-head tea session there proceeds from which will go to the Mayor’s Charity Fund for needy young people.

Cllr Butcher said: “Although we want to raise as much money as possible for the charity, I felt we should keep the price as reasonable as possible in view of the economic difficulties many are facing at the moment.

“Happily, Inglewood Manor have agreed and I am now looking forward to a bumper turn-out.

“I expect the event to run from 2-5pm and for those who have never seen the splendour of Inglewood Manor, it will be an opportunity to see the hotel and its 35 acres of stunning grounds.”
