GLENDOWER Place in Hanmer has won the title Best Street in Wrexham thanks mainly to the efforts of 91-year-old resident Lily Vaughan.
As part of Wales in Bloom, streetscene co-ordinators nominated roads for the award.
Wrexham council leader Cllr Aled Roberts and lead member for environment and transport, Cllr Dave Bithell, toured the shortlist.
Lily has looked after the area for more than 40 years and has planted many of the plants herself for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.
As a result of her efforts St Chad’s School will benefit from £150 for environmental improvements and Lily received a basket of flowers.
Other streets worthy of special mention were Castle Mews in Holt and Nant Lais in Minera.
Steve Jones, divisional manager, Streetscene, said: “We ran this award to thank those residents for their efforts to improve the environment for everyone in Wrexham.”
