A LIFETIME of resentment led a man to murder his stepmother in her Wirral home.
Chester crown court heard that Kenneth James Jones, 36, given a life sentence, with a tariff of 14 years, strangled and then stabbed to death his stepmother while his father was upstairs taking a bath, and then attempted to turn the knife on his father.
The court was told that Jones had turned up at the family home at The Witterings, Neston, on February 9, and turned on Carole Jenna Jones, 60, after a disagreement.
The defendant had then gone upstairs to where his 62-year-old father, also named Kenneth Jones, had been taking a bath, and unsuccessfully tried to stab him to death.
He eventually made a 999 call to police.
Jones, of no fixed abode, had been due to face trial for the murder yesterday, but decided to plead guilty.
The court had heard that the defendant had been harbouring a grudge after his father had remarried.
