AN APPEAL to dog owners to check on their pets has been made after an incident of sheep worrying at Tallarn Green.
A seven-month-old lamb owned by Ron Ankers of Oldcastle, which was pastured at the home of Joan Williams at Lower Elms in Tallarn Green, was attacked by two dogs and had to be put down by a vet after being seriously injured.
“I spotted a small black dog and a bigger fawn coloured animal with flowing hair running away from the field behind my house,” said Joan Williams, who has kept her own sheep on the fields running down to the Wych Brook for many years without loss.
"We very rarely see dogs running round without collars as these were and I just hope their owners will see what happens if they are not kept under control.
“The dogs must have gone home with blood on their mouths so the owners should realise what they’ve been doing. I appeal to them not to let this happen again."
Police have been informed, and Miss Williams warned that dogs attacking sheep would certainly be shot if they were spotted.
