LAST night’s anticipated derby six-pointer between strugglers Caernarfon and Llangefni was abandoned by referee Mike Jones at half-time, writes Keith Evans.

After relentless rain for 45 minutes on an already saturated surface some players had complained about the conditions, and the referee agreed, although officials of the two clubs contended that the game could have been completed.

The game was delayed by 15 minutes after players from both camps were caught up in congestion on the A55, caused by an accident.

During the 45 minutes played both teams went close to scoring. For Caernarfon, Paul Addo had a couple of one-on-ones with Llangefni’s Farai Jackson, and home debutant Phil Clarke fired over from 20 yards.

Llangefni’s best moments involved Chris Jones rushing towards an untended target, only to be felled by Craig Vernon, who got a yellow card, and Kevin Lloyd firing against the keeper.
