A RESIDENT at a care home celebrated her 100th birthday with a right honourable party.
Gwladys Peters, of Ashgrove care home in Chester Road, Gresford, not only received her telegram from the Queen, but also enjoyed a visit from the Mayor of Wrexham, Councillor David Griffiths. A special tea party was held with 30 guests including family members and friends.
Home manager Neville Cheetham said: “We wanted to have a proper celebration for Gwladys’s 100th birthday so we invited all her family and friends who were delighted to accept the invitation.
“Gwladys played a very active part in the community before she came to Ashgrove and she is still very well known and loved among many local community groups.
“Since coming to Ashgrove care home in June 2006 she has made a lot of friends in the home and is a fantastic character to have around.
“We all thoroughly enjoyed the celebration and are grateful to the mayor for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and see Gwladys.”
