ELDERLY residents at independent retirement apartments throughout Vale Royal are being treated to some special canine comforts courtesy of a three-year-old golden retriever called Omar.
Omar has been specially trained to Pets as Therapy (PAT) standards since he was 15 weeks old to work alongside his owner, Debra Phillips, with Weaver Vale Housing Trust residents.
This special temperament training means he can visit people of all ages and provide comfort and companionship by allowing to people to stroke him.
He is already a favourite with the residents at Heathbrook independent living apartments at Rudheath, where Debra is house manager.
