NESS Botantic Gardens scooped a gold medal for its Garden for Bees at last week’s Tatton RHS Flower Show.
The garden, created by Ness Gardens curator Paul Cook, was one of seven awarded a gold medal on the 10th anniversary of the show at Tatton.
A COLLECTION by the British Polio Fellowship at the Aldi store in Ellesmere Port on Saturday, July 19, raised £197.64.
The fellowship thanked the store group for its support.
FUNDRAISER Billy Birch has thanked a lady in Asda and her friends who made a donation of £50 from a party they held toward his next charity event.
Midnight film showing
A SPECIAL midnight screening of the new film The X Files: I Want To Believe, based on the hit TV show, will take place at the Vue cinema at The Coliseum, Cheshire Oaks, tomorrow (Thursday). Society in concert

Drop and Shop scheme
ACTIVE8 Leisure is running a Drop and Shop scheme in the school summer holidays.
Parents from the Westminster, Grange, Stanlow, Wolverham or Central areas of Ellesmere Port can drop off children aged five-11 at the EPIC leisure centre for one-and-a-half hours of free multi-sport or activity while they go shopping.
The scheme operates each Wednesday for five weeks, starting today, from 11.30am-1pm. Places are limited, so advance booking is advised. For details, ring 0151 350 0920.
Seek out spirits
PARANORMAL enthusiasts are invited to take part in a Ghost Hunt at the historic Stanley Palace in Chester from 8pm until 3am on Saturday, August 2.
The evening will start with a ghost walk with medium Ian Lawman from TV’s Most Haunted and the new show Living with the Dead.
There will then be vigils, where participants can get involved in paranormal experiments and use paranormal equipment such as Dictaphones to record EVP, or ghostly sounds.

PIANIST and entertainer Derek Harrison will be bringing the spirit of Fats Waller to the Boat House, Parkgate. He is playing with the Parade Jazz Band on Tuesday at 8pm.
Create graffiti mural
Working with professional street artist Alexis Milne, young people will be creating a graffiti mural at the skate park in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port next week.
The project is open to 13- to 18-year-olds and will take place on Thursday, between 1pm and 7pm and Friday from 9.30am-midday.
