A FORMER Chester City and Vauxhall Motors striker has been arrested following an alleged bar brawl.
Paul Taylor, 25, who now plays for Championship side Ipswich Town, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in the incident, which happened at the Robert Ransome pub in Tower Street, Ipswich.
It is believed the alleged assault injured two door staff, one suffered a broken rib and the other a fractured eye socket and broken finger.
Taylor was arrested along with a 24-year-old woman from Liverpool and both were bailed until January.
Footballer Taylor has had a chequered professional playing career.
He was prolific for Vauxhall Motors, scoring 19 times in 32 games, before going on loan to Chester City in 2008.
However, nine games into the loan move, Taylor failed a drugs test when traces of cocaine were found in his system. He was banned from the sport for six months.
Taylor later signed for Belgian club Anderlecht in December 2009, returning to England with a move to Peterborough United in 2011.
In August this year he was transferred to Ipswich Town in a move believed to be worth as much as £1.75m.
