GUESTS at the Mayor’s Charity Concert next week will enjoy a feast of folk music in aid of the town’s children’s organisations.

All residents of Ellesmere Port are invited to the event, which will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, March 10, at the Whitby Sports and Social Club.

Local folk bands Fiddlestone and Welcomme Finnan and Chrimes will take to the stage, joined by Fireflies ladies’ choir and Ellesmere Port Silver Band.

Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Angela Claydon, said: “I have been actively involved in the folk music scene for many years and I am delighted that two folk bands are taking part, as well as the choir and silver band so there will be different music styles appealing to a wide range of people.

“I will also be the compere on the night and would personally like to thank the musicians, choir and Whitby Sports and Social Club for their wonderful support for my charity.”

Hot meals will be available in the club before the concert and the evening will also include a raffle.

Tickets cost £5, payable on the door.
