A SPATE of car fires kept firefighters busy at the weekend.
There were five incidents involving deliberately ignited vehicles in Wrexham alone.
The first took place at 2.49am on Saturday in Stansty Road. Another car was then set alight at 9.53pm in Bryncybanau Road. And on Sunday morning there were three more, one at 1.10am in Penycae, one at 2.37am in Sontley Road and one at 4.38am in Rhosddu.
'Over the weekend firefighters attended 14 car fires across North Wales, five of which were in Wrexham,' said Bethan Davies, of the Fire and Rescue Service.
'Deliberately ignited cars are extremely worrying for us as valuable resources become committed which could be needed for life-saving at other incidents.
'And there are huge cost implications involved as well as the danger to the environment. If anyone has any information regarding these car fires they should contact the police immediately as these incidents are putting the lives of the public and firefighters at risk.'
