A NORTHWICH opticians has supported Girl Guides in Mid Cheshire to help them make a difference.

The town’s Specsavers store paid for First Rudheath Girl Guides to go to the 2009 World Thinking Day conference in London.

This annual event brings guide leaders together to discuss how to help people in their own communities and across the world.

The focus of this year’s event was stopping the spread of diseases like Aids and malaria across the globe.

Salma Kamaluddin of Specsavers said: “When Rudheath Guides approached us for help and explained what it was all about, we were thrilled to get involved.

“It’s very easy to get caught up in day-to-day life and forget about what’s going on around you.

“World Thinking Day is a fantastic idea to get young women to focus on how they can make a difference.

“We look forward to hearing how the girls from the Rudheath Guides will take the information and ideas forward to help other people around the world.”
