NORTH Wales Fire and Rescue Service handed over cheques totalling £2,550 to three charities.
The funds were raised during the bi-annual 10-mile sponsored walk around the town by Wrexham’s retained firefighters back in June.
Colin Hanks, deputy chief fire officer handed over the donations, with £1,000 being given to Nightingale House Hospice, £1,000 to Hope House Hospice and £550 to The Firefighters Charity.
Dave Bithell, retained watch manager, said: “We would like to express our thanks to the people of Wrexham for their generosity, and their encouragement on the day. The kind words of support were sorely needed as the weather on the day was absolutely terrible!”
Sandra Monks, of Nightingale House Hospice, said: “We would like to thank the firefighters at Wrexham for all their efforts – this money will be invaluable in helping us provide our specialist palliative care services for those in need.”
Rachel Pike, of Hope House Hospices, added: “The money will be put toward the Playtime appeal, to create a brand new playground with a range of equipment and activities for the children at Hope House to enjoy.”
