RACEGOERS and their families can look forward to an exciting day out at Bangor-on-Dee this Saturday, August 16.
‘Wrexham Raceday’ is a family-themed event that has become popular, with free entry for children under 16s and a range of children’s entertainment.
This includes a surf simulator, a jungle-run assault course, gladiators, bouncy castles, face painting and other children’s games.
Racegoers in the course enclosure are encouraged to take along picnics but refreshments are available in various bars and restaurants.
Tickets to the paddock enclosure cost £17 and £8 for the course enclosure.
The first race is at 2.30pm and the feature race of the day is the corbettsports.com Dee hurdle race.
The last race is the Wrexham Maiden Hurdle and the mayor of Wrexham will present the winning connections with their prizes.
In addition to the six races, two pony races are taking place after racing, run in conjunction with the Charles Owen Pony racing series.
Pony racing has been developed over the past four years in order to give those aged 11-15 the chance to practise and develop their race riding skills, technique and fitness for their future careers as professional jockeys.
