NIGHTINGALE House Hospice has been dazzled by the proceeds of a fireworks party.
A crowd of almost 3,500 flocked to enjoy a feast of fireworks, entertainment, food and drink, together with a free children's disco, at the Pirelli Cables Social Club - with the result that an impressive £5,500 was raised for the hospice.
MFM DJ Becky Wicks kicked off the show, leading the crowd with a countdown before pressing a giant plunger to set off a firework display which lit up the night sky.
Organiser Jackie Matthias, of Pirelli Cables, said the company is thrilled and amazed by the amount raised.
She said: 'There's a huge list of people and companies we have to thank for helping to make tonight such a success, including MFM, WR Refrigeration, JCB Transmissions, Initial Contracting Services, Premier Decorations, Halls of Holywell, Maxi Haulage Company, Asda, Johnstown Scouts, Borderland Bikers and HSS Hire Centre - not to mention all at the Pirelli Social Club, security staff and auxiliary firemen.'
Louise Elliott, Nightingale House fundraiser, said: 'This has been a fantastic evening.
We are absolutely delighted for the organisers at Pirelli, who have put so much effort into making this event such a success.
'We're very grateful to the Wrexham Mail for helping to promote the Bonfire and Fireworks Party and, of course, to Becky Wicks and MFM's Black Thunder Crew who really helped the evening go with a bang.'
