IF YOU are thinking of proposing to your partner you need to find the perfect place with the right atmosphere and a romantic setting.

Well, one young man thought of the National Trust property at Erddig, near Wrexham, to get down on one knee and propose to his sweetheart.

Daniel Groombridge, who lives in Shrewsbury and works at Shrewsbury Hospital, took his girl- friend Harriet Vine to Erddig to propose – and she said “yes”.

He said: “We’ve visited Erddig before and love to walk the house and gardens; it’s a great day out and it was the only place that was right for me to propose to Harriet. I was nervous but am thrilled to know Harriet is the girl for me.”

Tudor Williams, visitor services co-ordinator at Erddig, said: “It’s really lovely to see such a happy couple enjoying the surroundings at Erddig. The house is such a grand building and the gardens have so much to offer people. You’d be hard pressed to find a more romantic place anywhere in the country.”

The couple have not yet made plans for the wedding.
