AMERICAN cask-conditioned beers will be on offer at two pubs in Ellesmere Port – as part of their 19-day beer festival.

The beer festival is taking place at The Wheatsheaf in Overpool Road and The Thomas Telford in Whitby Road from Wednesday, October 5, to Sunday, October 23.

The five American beers are being brewed in the UK by their respective brewers to their individual recipes.

They are Kalamazoo Black Silk (Bells, Michigan), Sandiago Session IPA (Stone, California), Cascadian Dark Ale (Bend, Oregon), Yakima Sun (Fat Head, Ohio) and Ninety Shilling (Odells, Colorado).

In addition the pubs will serve up to 25 beers from across the UK, including The Governor (JW Lees), Ginger Beard (Wychwood), Horse Rustler (White Horse), Old Crafty Hen (Morland), Pudding Porter (Tring), Vapour Trail (Salopian) and Brother Rabbit (Thornbridge).

The UK beers include those brewed for the first time exclusively for the festival, speciality beers with interesting ingredients like fruit, spices, honey and beers no longer brewed, but resurrected for the festival.

Customers will be able to sample any three of the beers in special third-of-a-pint glasses for the price of a pint.

David Morgan, manager of The Thomas Telford, said: “The festival will give people the opportunity to enjoy a superb selection of American beers not usually available in the UK, as well as wonderful beers brewed closer to home.

“The festival promises to be great fun.”

Tasting notes on all of the beers will be available in the pubs.
