A LEADING demolition firm in Ellesmere Port has won an award.
D Morgan PLC was named Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) of the Year at the 2010 North West Regional Construction Awards held in Southport.
The company, which celebrates its sixtieth anniversary this year, was commended by the judges as well-established and forward-thinking.
It was also praised for its dedication to training, sustainability and safety, and for the respect it pays to the environment, employees and the community.
The honour also recognised the significant impact the company had on the construction industry in the region during the previous year and also highlighted its strong prospects for continued growth and expansion within the industry.
Denis Morgan, chairman of D Morgan PLC, said: “We feel exceptionally proud to have won this award, especially when we consider the very high calibre of nominees this year.
“Winning this award has shown that our ethos is one that works and we are very excited to be named as the North West’s SME of the Year.”
The company, one of the region’s leading brownfield remediation, civil engineering and demolition contractors. was also shortlisted for the Environmental Sustainability Award in recognition of its work on a housing scheme in Liverpool, where it has achieved record levels of recycling.
It reused 90% of materials from the properties it demolished in the city.
Paying tribute to the company’s success, Liverpool City Council leader Joe Anderson said: “I’m always pleased to see local firms doing so well, and I am delighted D Morgan PLC has been recognised at these important North West Construction Awards.
