CONSERVATIVE parliamentary candidate Stuart Penketh has welcomed the news that Vauxhall will stay in the ownership of General Motors.

He believes the decision not to sell to Magna puts the British plants on a more equal footing when the restructuring of the company occurs.

“The news is a welcome development which will give the workers in the Vauxhall plants in Ellesmere Port and Luton greater security,” he explained.

Flintshire MP David Hanson said: “The Vauxhall workforce at Ellesmere Port is an extremely skilled and professional one and I now want to see discussions about jobs get under way as soon as is possible.”
