A DISABLED woman in a wheelchair has been jailed.

Andrea Lorraine Davies, 33, a heroin addict, had been jailed previously, Flintshire Magistrates Court was told.

Davies, of Y Wern, Caia Park, admitted possessing 1.2 grammes of heroin, a class A drug, and handling a stolen PlayStation and a set of golf clubs.

She was jailed for two months. Dvaies's solicitor Mr Alun Williams said it was a sad case, for the mother of two had had everything going for her, but her life had been changed dramatically by a crash.

Mr Williams explained Davies had been struck by a car as she got off a bus when she was 21 and had been in a coma for six months. When she came around, she could not remember who she was or whether she had any children.

She had limited mobility and her right side was almost completely paralysed.

'Her circumstances make her life very difficult,' said Mr Williams.

The address in Y Wern was one which was used by other opiate users; the police visited regularly and the people she mixed with had contributed to the offences to some extent, he said.

Mr Williams said ideally his client wished to be placed on a drug treatment and testing order but accepted her failure to co-operate previously meant that was now ruled out.

She would be vulnerable in custody and she did not like it there but it was accepted that community penalties were not available and it was unrealistic to consider a conditional discharge.
