ECONOMIC development minister Ieuan Wyn Jones visited a Ruabon factory making safety cable.
North Wales AM Janet Ryder, who accompanied her Plaid Cymru colleague on his visit to Wrexham Mineral Cable on the Wynnstay Industrial Park, Ruabon, said: “The safety cable of the type this factory makes could be incorporated into many public buildings and I was delighted we were able to bring the minister to see the cable for himself.
“The standard of this kind of cabling, which can withstand extreme temperatures, could be the difference between life and death if a fire broke out in a public building.”
Ms Ryder said specialist mineral cable had been used most recently at the Odeon cinema at the Eagles Meadow complex in Wrexham and urged the National Assembly for Wales to consider using it in its new North Wales HQ, which is designed to withstand bomb attacks.
She added: “I’m very pleased the minister has been able to see for himself the work done here.”
