DAVENHAM can earn themselves a crack at Lovelane Cheshire Cup holders Oulton Park in this summer’s competition.

County League champions Oulton are exempt until round three, whereas Davenham have first to overcome Birkenhead St Mary’s in the opening round on May 5 and then beat Alderley Park.

Whoever the opposition, Oulton are at home.

The first round also includes Brooklands v Winnington Park (winners home to Upton) and Middlewich v Congleton (winners away v Sale or Caldy).

Northwich have a bye and in round two host County Leaguers Cheadle Hulme. Winsford were excluded for failing to fulfil a fixture last season, while Barnton, Hartford and Weaverham have not entered.

Teams beaten in the opening two rounds then enter the Cheshire Shield.

Winsford have reappointed Barry Crellin as 1st XI skipper, but James Bland takes over the 2nds, who have achieved successive promotions. The respective vice-captains are Gareth Whitney and Dave Tierney. Phil Jones continues as 3rd XI captain.
