CHESHIRE County League strugglers Oakmere kept their tails up with a determined draw at relegation rivals Brooklands.
The South Manchester hosts declared on 232-5 as the Overdale Lane outfit failed to take regular wickets.
In reply, the visitors were in with a shout as Peter Yearsley (60no) and skipper Ian Eaton (52) impressed.
But it was not to be as Brooklands’ fierce bowling attack restricted Oakmere to 196-5.
Eaton said:“To be fair they bowled very well and we lost wickets at key times. With ten overs to go we needed about 10 runs per over so we were still in the game.
“The main thing was that we didn’t get beat. They gained a few points on us but we are still in touch.
“Even if we do go down, the main thing is that we learn from the experience and hopefully bounce back.
“We have got a big game against Middlewich so if we can get anything out of it then we can kick on from there.”
Oulton Park march on in the Premier League after putting hosts Neston to the sword.
Batting first, Park smashed their way to 309-7 declared with skipper Nathan Dumelow hitting 83. Also finding the boundary on regular occasion was Danny Leech (67) and Ben Spendlove (52).
Defending their total, Park eased their way to victory and maintained their position in second, as Dumelow (3-3) and Rick Moore (3-40) helped restrict Neston to 182.
