WINSFORD’S two county councillors are pleading with education chiefs to keep Handley Hill open.
Pam Booher and Tony Hooton have backed the school’s fight since plans to close it were revealed. And they are imploring the county’s executive group to follow the recommendations made by the full council last week.
Cllr Booher told the packed meeting: “This school is vitally important to this area and the lives of many families.
“I know of many families who would have great difficulties getting their children to the surrounding schools because of their circumstances and this is worrying me.”
Cllr Hooton, chairman of the Winsford Education Partnership, begged the members: “Please do not close this school.”
