THE launch of Cheshire West and Chester Council takes place today with a fanfare of events.
As part of the celebration, an open-top bus will be touring the area, carrying the new councillors and a 12-piece band.
The bus will leave County Hall in Chester at 10.30am and will be stopping off at Sainsbury’s in Boughton, Morrisons in Winsford, Baron’s Quay in Northwich and Asda in Ellesmere Port then heading back to Chester.
Cllr Mike Jones, leader of the council, is delighted to get the new authority under way.
He said: “This is not simply the hand over of responsibilities, our new council will think and act differently.”
