WINSFORD Town Council has “concerns” over plans to build up to 80 houses at Ways Green.
Rhyl-based firm Anwyl Construction wants to build on seven acres of vacant land at the back of the Conservative club.
The company contacted the town council for feedback before it decides whether to submit a full planning application.
The company is already building 23 dwellings at River View, Ways Green, which adjoins the site it wants to build on.
Cllr Brian Clarke said: “If there are two cars per house there will be problems. The infrastructure isn’t right for it. That’s why we’ve got big concerns.”
Town clerk Alan Warburton said: “The site’s not allocated for housing in the Vale Royal Local Plan.
“We’re are also concerned about the potential traffic implications of up to 80 houses on the already congested residential area.”
Anwyl claims the development would be “sustainable” because of the close proximity to the town centre and local amenities.
