CHILDREN at an Ellesmere Port nursery have had hands-on lessons in gardening at allotments.
Youngsters from the Little Acorns Nursery in Ellesmere Port have visited the community allotment at Stanlaw Abbey Children’s Centre for lessons about growing plants and vegetables.
The nursery’s deputy manager, Dawn Shingler, said: “The children have been fascinated by the lessons and have been going every week throughout the summer term.”
Meanwhile, children at the nursery also went on a bear hunt in their woods.
They hunted down a bear and re-enacted the bear hunt story.
Deputy manager Dawn Shingler said: “As their extension they had a teddy bears picnic and all the children brought in a special teddy of their own to share their picnic.
“They created their own woodland area inside the nursery and ate their picnic.
“The staff left the area up for the children to play in and are hoping to extend on their interest further.”
