POLICE in Winsford have issued an appeal for witnesses after a woman was shot in the leg with an imitation gun.

Two teenage boys thought to be aged 14-15 fired the weapon, which police believe was a BB gun, a type of airgun, at the 26-year-old woman as she stood at a cashpoint on Woodford Lane at 11.25am on Sunday.

Det Sgt Tony Jones, of Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “The woman was shot in the leg and injured, but if they’d have shot her in the face the consequences could have been drastic.”

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call DS Jones on 01244 612594.
