YOUNGSTERS in Winsford can try out fishing thanks to a programme launched by Cheshire Constabulary and its partners.

Officers from the Winsford Neighbourhood Policing Unit are working with Connexions, the Environment Agency, Cheshire West and Chester Council and Winsford Anglers Association to provide fishing lessons for 11-16-year-olds over the summer.

Winsford Fishing Festival will run throughout August at Winsford National Pool, off Weaver Valley Road.

Group and team days will be held today (Wednesday) and on August 12, 20 and 27 between 10am-3pm.

PCSO Jacqueline Tudor said: “The coaches are kindly giving up their time to pass on their expertise.

“It is also a chance for us to develop good relationships between the police and young people in the area.”
