A MAN has died in hospital after being crushed by a huge steel gate on Winsford Industrial Estate.
Cheshire Police’s major incident team and the Health and Safety Executive have launched a joint investigation following the incident at 9.20am today, Friday.
The employee of S. Cooper and Sons was taken to Leighton Hospital, but died around an hour later.
A police spokesperson said: “At just after 9.20am today a fatality occurred at an industrial premises on Road Three, Winsford Industrial Estate.
“The deceased is a man from the Congleton area. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is taking place and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.
“A coroner’s file will be prepared in due course.”
The building is owned by Thelwall Developments on Road One. It is believed S. Cooper and Sons, originally based on Nat Lane, had been renting the premises on the corner of Road One and Road Three where the tragedy occurred.
