POLICE have welcomed a three-year prison sentence on a man who carried out a burglary in Crewe.
Robert Bennett, 34, of Heywood Green in Crewe, pleaded guilty to Chester Crown Court to breaking into a house in the Wistaston area of the town and stealing jewellery worth thousands of pounds.
Detective Sergeant Glyn Leech, from the Cheshire Police Eastern Area Pro-Active Policing Team, said: “Bennett has a number of previous convictions for burglary. The sentence reflected that, but also took into account the fact that he pleaded guilty to this latest one.
“This burglary was carried out in November, only a few months after he had finished a prison sentence for several other break-ins. We secured some very good forensic evidence which led to his arrest and we are pleased about that.”
Det Sgt Leech added: “Convictions like this show the public that we are having some substantial success and hopefully send a warning to criminals that they will be caught.”
