VISITORS to the Blue Planet Aquarium at Cheshire Oaks went ‘flipping crazy’ in anticipation of Pancake Day.

To celebrate Shrove Tuesday yesterday, the aquarium set up a series of events and activities, ranging from fun quiz trails to pancake tossing competitions.

Youngsters tried out the ‘Flat as a Pancake’ trail, where they were asked to try and count how many flatfish were in the giant rock pool display, with prizes for correct answers, and identified the favourite foods of various fish.

And there were pancake tossing competitions in the restaurant area, with prizes up for grabs as well, as a selection of sweet and savoury pancakes available.

Rebecca Collins of Blue Planet said: “The whole place literally went flipping crazy over the weekend with pancake-related fun and games.

“It’s the first time we have held this type of event here and it’s been great fun devising the quizzes and testing out the different pancake fillings in the cafe.”
