IT PROMISES to be a hoot when Mid Cheshire Barn Owl Conservation Group holds a celebration at Northwich Memorial Hall next month.

Eight years ago when the group started there were only 19 recorded breeding pairs of barn owls in the whole of Cheshire but this number has shot up to 150 pairs.

John Mycock, spokesman for the group, said the increase is not just a reflection of the work of the various barn owl groups, but is also due to the support of farmers and landowners.

The celebration starts at 7pm on April 29, and will be open to the public and features various displays.
