A man from Ellesmere Port has been charged with robbery after a 12-year-old boy had his mobile phone stolen.
Lee Steven Cole, 45, of Alnwick Drive, was arrested following the incident about 7.15pm on Thursday, April 28, in Wolverham Road, Ellesmere Port.
Police said the youngster was approached from behind by a man riding a blue and white mountain bike. The suspect is alleged to have hit the boy, causing him to fall to the ground, then stolen his mobile phone before fleeing the scene on the bicycle.
The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Following questioning, Cole was charged with one count of robbery.
He appeared at South Cheshire Magistrates’ court on Monday May 2 where he was remanded in custody. He is set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday May 31.
