Visitors to Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre have welcomed the first foal to be born there this year.
Among the first to visit the filly foal was four-year-old Chloe Moore who brought a home-made congratulatory card for the mother, Spirit.
The foal was born on January 3 and is the first of eight due to be born at the centre, based on the A49, before May.
Janet King, who runs the centre with her husband Alistair, said: “Despite only being a few days old our new foal has had lots of visitors who have read about her birth and watched a video through our website and social media.
“Preserving the native breed of Shire horse is one of our main aims so this is always an exciting time for us and it is great to share it with our visitors who enjoy this special time as much as we do.”
The centre has launched Foalwatch 2014, a video diary following the progress of the mares and foals which can be viewed on the centre’s website, Facebook page, Twitter account and YouTube channel.
