CHILDREN in Blacon are getting involved in politics.

Students from five primary schools – Dee Point, JH Godwin, St Theresa’s, Highfield and The Arches – joined forces with representatives of Blacon High School to form the first Youth Parliament.

The team of 14 youngsters decided on the name Generating Blacon.

“The aim of the group is to find ways to promote Blacon and to try and overcome some of the misconceptions about the area,” said Dee Point headteacher Dave Williams.

“The children will be visiting the Houses of Parliament before Christmas to get a flavour of how meetings are run.”
