Teams of some of the best young chemists in the North West spent the day at the university and had the chance to use the state-of-the-art university laboratory for a series of practical exercises including volumetric analysis and an instrumental spectroscopic technique.
The SJD team all currently study A-level chemistry and previously attended Middlewich High (Dominic), St Nicholas’s RC High (Thomas) and Weaverham High (Olivia).
Head of physics and chemistry at SJD Anne Thomas said: “The team were up against stiff competition and so we are very proud of their win.”
The team won £250 for SJD and a £25 Amazon voucher each for themselves.
