A NEW foundation degree in hospitality management is being offered by West Cheshire College to improve career opportunities in the area’s essential visitor economy.
The two-year course is designed for people who want a career in hospitality and catering but want to break through into higher management levels.
The degree leads to a Level 4 qualification at the end of the first year and a Level 5 at the end of the second.
Students will cover topics including professional development, marketing, event and large-scale event management, accommodation and facilities, finance and business planning and exceeding customer expectations.
Hospitality and catering manager Sam Stevens said: “This industry is a key employer in the area and offers some great career opportunities.
“For people hoping to move on from craft and supervisory roles into senior management levels, this qualification is vital.
“This could include sous chefs wanting to become executive chefs or people looking to go into managing hotels and for people hoping to swap from one area within the industry to another.
“It’s ideal for people just leaving college.”
The course is being run in conjunction with the University of Chester.
