A HEALTHY living initiative involving two 'street doctor' style events held in Halton, has been hailed a success.

Patients in Runcorn had the opportunity to quiz health professionals at the Stay Active, Stay Well events at Hallwood Health Centre, on March 1, and Murdishaw Health Centre on March 6.

The events were a joint venture between Halton Borough Council's health and physical activity development officer and Halton Primary Care Trust's Healthy Living Programme.

Events at Hallwood included free healthy food tasting and advice, physical activity taster sessions and the launch of the new Hallwood/Halton Lea walk, including the chance to chat to a nurse, while getting exercise at the same time.

Murdishaw residents enjoyed weight loss seminars, chair-based exercise sessions and the chance to chat to a GP without an appointment at the launch of the Murdishaw Health Walk.

People got help and advice on a range of health matters in an informal setting at both venues.

The first 50 people to register for the walks also got a free pedometer.

Paula Parle, Halton's health and physical activity development officer, said: 'Everyone who came along really seemed to get something from the events.'
