MORE than 2,000 people flocked to Tarporley Carnival to watch a packed parade with villagers dressed in their favourite outfits from yesteryear.
The theme for this year’s parade was fashion through the ages and those taking part didn’t disappoint. There were punk rock pre-schoolers, a primary school Mafia and the girl guiders marked their centenary year by wearing uniforms from the past 100 years.
The parade was led by Maurice Hunt, who was leading a 1900’s hose cart from the Tarporley Fire Brigade Museum.
Visitors were entertained by a variety of stalls as well a demonstrations from the Delamere dog display, donkey rides, a mini athletic competition for the children and a fairground.
David Carter from Tarporley Rotary Club said: “The event is an excellent example of the Rotary and the Round Table clubs working together to serve their local community.”
He added: “The carnival attracted around 2,000 people, who were entertained throughout the afternoon by arena performers, side shows, traditional donkey rides as well as mini-karts, and a fun fair.”
