A COUNTRY pub was paid a visit by MP Andrew Miller in support of Proud of Pubs Week.

The Helsby Arms, Chester Road, Helsby, was visited by the MP on Friday to meet with staff and customers.

Owner and licensee Carole Currie said: “We’re very proud of our pub, the quality of the food and drink we offer and the 16 people we employ.

“Proud of Pubs Week is a national celebration all about getting people and politicians behind the key campaign message that pubs are good.

“During the hour Mr Miller spent here he chatted to us, met some of our staff, including our apprentice chef Mike Tysoe and some of our loyal customers.”
